Feeling disconnected from life? Having trouble keeping focused and holding on to the things that normally motivate you? We have all been there. Just since Sharathon I have had my own bout with the blahs. I hear that can happen after a challenging time in your life. Routine may be necessary but it makes you long for the things that get your heart pumping and your mind working overtime. Many times God uses these down times as teaching times to help us even out our lifestyle and steady our Christian walk. Our lives become more consistent and our light becomes more obvious to others. I am in a teaching time that I just have to share with you. The Lord keeps things simple for me so that I will grasp their meaning quickly. I am still amazed at how profound simple things can be and how easily we can miss the simple things in life.
How do you get motivated? How do you restart your engines? Most of us look to our next goal and focus on our long and short term goals. Sometimes keeping busy is almost like saying, “God will see how busy I am and count it as time well spent and know my intentions are good”. We act like children trying to be adorable for our parents so they will forget our latest incident. What we end up doing is frustrating ourselves more because it just takes longer to come to the end of ourselves. As I said the solution is simple and would seem easy. “Wait upon the Lord”. I like to say it this way, “stop squirming He is not going to put a hook in you. He is going to put you on a straight protected path. But He first may have to clear the clouds between you and He”.
So is that it? Wait on the Lord? Do you know how much it takes to actually do that? To wait means you have to trust Him completely. God can take me out of my situation in spite of the fact that I got myself into this mess (admit it). So I’ll wait for Him to provide an honest solution. Then you have to rely on His wisdom and say I know enough about my Lord that there may be more solutions to my problems than I can see so I’ll wait to hear from Him. And finally to wait upon the Lord you have to worship Him. It might take this form-I really am His child and He has claimed me for His name’s sake. What grace and mercy is in the hands of my Father God. So I will wait because He is altogether lovely. And from there if your soul is quiet you will climb up to all sorts of beautiful thoughts which bring Him honor and you peace.
WCIF as been here for these 27 years making the Word of God known in it’s profound simplicity. That means we have always tried to show the love of God by keeping the Word of God before you. We are aware that the Word can be that life preserver when you are struggling, that warm glow when the world has chilled you, and that joy filled tune you must sing when your heart is full. Our message is simple. Jesus loves you. He has given you breathing room so you can wait on the Lord.
Isaiah 64:4 For since the world began, no ear has heard, and no eye has seen a God like you, who works for those who wait for him!
psalm 62:1,5 I wait quietly before God, for my victory comes from him. Let all that I am wait quietly before God, for my hope is in him.
Take time for these as well: Isaiah 51:5 psalm 40:1 psalm 25:6 Isaiah 40:31 psalm 39:7,8 Hosea 12:6
